The private equity owner of cable ties manufacturer Hellermann Tyton has revived plans to sell or float the business, which has its UK headquarters in Manchester and has a price tag of around £800m.

Doughty Hanson, which acquired Hellermann in 2006, recruited investment bank UBS in 2010 to handle the sale process but no buyer was found.

It has now appointed DC Advisory Partners to have a fresh look at strategic options for the business, with a sale to another private equity outfit thought the most likely outcome. No deal is expected until at least early next year, sources have told the MEN.

Hellermann has a manufacturing base at Sharston Green Business Park, Wythenshawe, and employs more than 2,600 people worldwide.

The firm’s core activity is making plastic ties for fastening cables and it has a range of more than 20,000 products. (…)
