UNIONS plan to sue bosses of doomed Birmingham factory Tucker Fasteners over a “transatlantic charade” which has left 220 workers facing the dole queue.
Unite union is to take Stanley, Black and Decker to a tribunal over the US group’s decision to close the Perry Barr factory and switch production to Germany and the US.
Officials said an internal company document obtained by the union showed the parent company had earmarked the factory for closure a year earlier.
Unite regional official John Walsh said: “We feel we have been subjected to a transatlantic charade and have decided to sue the company for lack of consultation. (…)
