Fifty years ago a salesman started Ford Fasteners Inc. with two heading machines, two thread rollers and a cement mixer to tumble the product.
George Cellary – who studied journalism in college – had gotten into hardware sales and worked his way up to regional sales manager for National Lock in New York.
National Lock had a small fastener division where he learned about fasteners. His sales success and belief in customer service led him to start Ford Fasteners in 1963.
Initially, he produced what has become known as Ford 410 stainless steel screws to be used in windows and doors and refrigeration. (…)
