Locally, the latest company to move forward with expansion plans is Nifco America Corp., which is undergoing a $3 million expansion at its Shelby County plant.
Nifco manufactures plastic injection-molded fasteners for the automotive industry.
The company is adding 73,000 square feet of manufacturing space at its plant at 380 Hudson Boulevard in Shelbyville.
Nifco assistant vice president Bryan Kelley said construction related to the expansion is expected to be complete by the end of April. About 100 employees are expected to be added to the Nifco work force by the end of 2013, bringing the total number to about 200 locally, he said.(…)
