Rocknel was formed in 1989 as a joint venture between Elco Industries Inc. and Nagoya Screw Manufacturing Co. Ltd. Elco wanted to do business with Japanese firms, which in the late 1980s were setting up car factories here. Nagoya helped it break into the market.
