MARION — Sakamura USA has won the John F. Lacey Memorial Safety Award for a consecutive year, an accomplishment a spokeswoman said company officials hope will gain attention for the manufacturing plant in the Dual Rail Industrial Park on the city’s northwest side.
Sakamura received the award, a special honor presented annually by the Marion Area Safety Council, in the name of a former vice president of Osgood Co., who was a pioneer in safety and health and active in the state and national safety organizations. Criteria for winning the award included requirements of submitting several safety reports to various agencies and organizations, showing improvement over the company’s previous two years’ injury frequency rate. Sakamura had no lost-time accidents during the most recent two-year period and no lost-time accidents in the previous two-year timespan.(…)
