Field Fastener Supply Co. has made an unusual benefit available to its workers: A full workweek of paid time off — not to work on suntans or to couch surf, but to volunteer five days a year on behalf of worthy causes.
It’s a way to allow “team members” (Field doesn’t call them employees) to volunteer on activities that make their community a better place without having to worry about missing a paycheck or burning regular vacation time, Chairman Bill Derry said.(…)
