Taiwan’s fastener industry has successfully gone through its inception, expansion, adolescence, and maturity periods. From its dependence on Japan for raw material exports, to the China Steel Company providing it with wire rods that met international specifications; and from independently developing molding machines and automation equipment, to becoming the Screw Kingdom – Taiwan’s fastener industry has gradually matured. However, in the face of challenges resulting from changes in the global environment, such as the appreciation of Taiwan’s currency value unfavorably impacting exports, its export markets overly concentrating on the United States, and Taiwan’s lack of production manpower as well as challenges stemming from higher wages, Taiwan’s fastener industry has begun to search for new opportunities and development routes.
