Vanderlande has been selected to implement a Zone Picking System for Fabory in Brno. Vanderlande was chosen because of the long-standing relationship with Fabory, as well as system robustness and design. The project will be going into operation mid 2011.
The Fabory branches in the Eastern European countries are supplied from a central warehouse in Brno, Czech Republic. Main supplier for this central warehouse is Fabory in Tilburg. The current Brno warehouse is too small to handle the growing stock and turnover. Manual picking is more and more expensive, because labour cost are increasing rapidly in Eastern Europe. Therefore Fabory asked Vanderlande to design an automated system for their new ‘green field’ warehouse. Fabory selected Vanderlande because of the long-standing relationship between the two companies, as well as system robustness and design. Fabory was already familiar with Vanderlande as the company installed a goods-to-man based Compact Picking System at Fabory’s headquarters in Tilburg (The Netherlands).
