part 2 of a 3 part series
Asia is a wonderful place, as long as I don’t have to go there in the heat of summer. One trip to China, a few years ago during the months of July and August, our driver refused to drive over 50 mph because the tires were in danger of melting if he went any faster. The temp that day touched 50°C or 122°F. On that same trip I lost 11 pounds. I loved the food – that wasn’t the issue. It was the most unimaginable heat and humidity I had ever encountered. From the moment I left my hotel room in the morning until the moment I returned an excruciating 15 hours later, my clothes were soaking wet. I remember walking through a factory in Haiyan with rivers of sweat running down my arms onto the floor. I came dangerously close to fainting towards the end of that particular tour.
