A member of the Mary Valley Heritage Railway in Gympie in south-east Queensland says the historic steam train service is unsafe.
Member Frank Lightfoot has investigated sections of the track and says in one location less than 10 per cent of the sleepers are sound and fasteners are either missing or loose.
Mr Lightfoot says he is particularly worried about the approach to a bridge where he says bracing is faulty.
