MORE than 10,000 bolts connecting seats in the Waratah trains may need to be replaced after a worker noticed the fasteners used on the first set were wrong.

The government yesterday revealed the latest farce to plague the delayed project, saying taxpayers would not be dragged in to fix the construction and financial “mess”.

Last night RailCorp confirmed all 2176 seat fasteners on the first train had been replaced and was checking if as many as six trains needed the same replacement.

The government yesterday used Question Time to blast the project, with both Transport Minister Gladys Berejiklian and Treasurer Mike Baird raising concerns relating to the US-based insurance companies financing it.
