A first introduction to marketing automation

Let me first share with you a short story:
Paul is the business owner of small fastener manufacturing family business. He exhibits on the International Fastener Show for the 3rd time now. In our story, it does not matter if he is a European or Asian manufacturer or coming from whatever other regions of the world.
There are 3 of them at the booth – 12 sqm, 2 showcases featuring their products, 5 posters on the wall. A basic layout. Business cards with brochures attached on the counter. Samples are displayed by family of products but neither specific enhancement nor information about the industries are served. Posters look to have been hung many times. They also show many many more products than the exposed on-site. Visitors could even wonder if there were not some trading parts among them.
After half a day on the show, Paul goes around to check how the show is doing overall. He is attracted by a specific booth in a narrower alley. The booth is not bigger than his, but looks like something going on there as several people are discussing outside the booth in the alley. Intrigued, he decides to have a look. First thing he notices is the huge central poster reading in big letters «Automotive fasteners are not like any Fasteners» and a baseline «Want to find out how we will meet YOUR expectations? Let’s discuss». (…)
