PONTOTOC, Miss. (WTVA) — The Paslode fastener plant in Pontotoc will be closing before the end of the year, and 24 people will be losing their jobs.
Business owner Paulette Reese has lived near Paslode’s plant in Pontotoc since it opened in 1984.
She was surprised to hear the business was closing.
“I hate to hear that we’re losing any jobs, because right now we need to be gaining jobs,” Reese said.
The fastener plant will be closing on December 13.
Mayor Jeff Stafford says Paslode is closing its fasteners division to help the company overall.
“They’re still a strong company. They’re just doing some diversification right now, focusing on different product lines,” said Stafford. (…)
