Once upon a time, I subscribed to a Nightengale-Conanat service that e-mails to me a “Motivational Quote of the Day”. Quite honestly, they usually go to my spam and I rarely read them. Today, the quote came to my “inbox” so I thought maybe it was a sign that I should read it. (By the way, when going on to a baseball field I never step on the white chalk lines, just go give you some perspective on my feelings about superstitions. Also, I cannot tell you how often it happens that I turn on a TV and my sports team begins to play poorly, but that is a whole different subject).
So, the quote of the day was from Tom Peters and it read, “Winners must learn to relish change with the same enthusiasm and energy that we have resisted it in the past.” Wow. I realize that line could have been written 20 or 30 years ago when Peters wrote “In Search of Excellence” but it is interesting to ponder. With smart phones and social media and every other thing that bombards us on a daily basis, we really have no choice but to jump in and explore all the new tools available to us. Otherwise, we’ll be left behind….
