Group Backs EU Tax Change on Chinese Bolts, Handelsblatt Says

Dec. 29 (Bloomberg) –The European Union’s tax on imported Chinese bolts and screws shows its policy is “clearly protectionist” and should be changed, German BGA Exporters’ chief Anton Boerner told Handelsblatt in an interview.

The World Trade Organization’s ruling earlier this month that the tax is unfair was a “partial success,” Boerner said in the interview. European tax on the Chinese-made fasteners, which are used by automakers, reached as high as 87 percent, Handelsblatt said, citing figures by the Berlin-based trade group of fastener makers FDS.
