LIVERMORE — Just as you can’t fit a square peg into a round hole, you shouldn’t use a screw made for sheet metal on a wooden cabinet.
This is the message that Greg Wiener has stuck to for more than 23 years, and lucky for his company, it’s a message that’s caught on. As the founder and CEO of Livermore-based Quickscrews International, his company has designed and imported more than 900 screws, or fasteners, with close to a 1 billion sold each year.
“The fastener business is a $30 billion a year industry, but fasteners for wood is a much smaller part of that,” Wiener said. “That’s the part of the industry we felt we could carve out.” …
