New Fastener, Connector and Software Products Showcased at DeckExpo
Pleasanton, Calif. – Simpson Strong-Tie will feature a number of time-saving products at the 2012 DeckExpo in Baltimore, October 9-12, booth 1501. The following are a few of the products that will be showcased.
DSV Decking Screw – Available Now
The new DSV Decking Screws are a powerful fastening solution for preservative-treated decking applications, allowing up to 35% more screws per battery charge. The screw’s unique characteristics compared to standard deck screws make it ideally suited for wood decking projects. The heavy #10 shank diameter is designed to withstand the expansion or contraction that is common with fast-growth lumber as it reaches equilibrium with jobsite conditions. With its fast-start hi-low tip, the DSV screw easily pierces deck boards, and the rimmed flat-head with underhead nibs ensure easier countersinking. The DSV screw is offered in a variety of sizes to fasten decking, fascia and trim. Contractors can choose from hand-drive screws or collated screw strips for use with the Simpson Strong-Tie® Quik Drive® auto-feed screw driving system.
DeckTools® Software – Available Now
The latest version (Version 3.6.2) of DeckTools® offers new features, including generic composites so customers can design with product lines not currently available in the software. The generic products include decking, mitered borders, fascia, railings and tread and riser stairs. Pricing and SKU data can be updated on these items. The software now enables you to add a textbox in any design view, with formatting options for filling the text box background and changing the thickness of the outline, as well as text editing and formatting. New training materials for DeckTools include tutorial videos hosted on YouTube, Instructor and Participant Guides, an online basics course and a Quick Reference Guide.
