A company in Shelby County and another in Oldham Count introduced potential projects at Thursday’s meeting of the Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority in Frankfort.
Nifco American Corp., a Japanese automotive supplier, announced plans for a possible expansion of its Shelby County plant.
Nifco manufactures plastic injection-molding fasteners for the automotive industry. The company’s filing with the state said it is considering a 73,000-square-foot expansion to its 115,000-square-foot plant at 380 Hudson Blvd. in Shelbyville.
The expansion would help it keep up with customer demand.
Plans call for a $3 million investment, the filing said, and the company is studying the addition of equipment this year and next.
Nifco was approved by the KEDFA board for $70,000 in state sales tax rebates.
The company’s plant employed 65 people in 2010, according to data from the Kentucky Cabinet for Economic Development.
United Pallet Alliance LLC plans to establish a 16,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in Oldham County. United Pallet plans to manufacture pallets, crates and other material handling products.
It is considering the creation of a facility in La Grange that would employ 15 people with an average hourly wage of $18, according to its KEDFA filing.
The company’s investment would be $895,000, the filing said.
The KEDFA board granted United Pallet preliminary approval for $100,000 in state tax incentives for up to 10 years. (…)
