NORMA Group makes first acquisition in Asia and acquires the majorityof Chien Jin PlasticMaintal, Germany, 15 October 2012 – NORMA Group, a global market and technology leader for engineered joining technology, has signed a share purchase agreement on 15 October, 2012 to acquire 85% of the shares in the manufacturer of thermoplastic joining elements Chien Jin Plastic Sdn. Bhd. (“Chien Jin Plastic”) in Malaysia. The parties agreed to maintain confidentiality on the transaction details.
Chien Jin Plastic is based in Ipoh, approximately 200 km north of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The company is specialized in joining elements for plastic and iron pipe systems. Being in the market for 20 years, Chien Jin Plastic manufactures pipe couplings for different application areas, in particular fordrinking and domestic water distribution, and irrigation systems.
In addition, the company producescomponents for sanitary appliances and globally distributes its products under its brand name Fish Brand to more than 200 distributors in about 30 countries. In the past fiscal year, the company generated overall sales of more than seven million euro with around 150 employeesThe acquisition of Chien Jin Plastic is a milestone for NORMA Group in expanding its business activities into Southeast Asia. The company extends the product range in infrastructure and the distribution network in this dynamically growing region. NORMA Group has already been present in Southeast Asia since 2004 with locations in e.g. Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia and the Philippines.
