NORMA Group’s joining technology qualifies for Olympic Winter Games in SochiMaintal, Germany, 7 February 2014 – NORMA Group, an international market and technology leader for engineered joining technology, has equipped the ‘Bolshoy Ice Dome’ and other buildings in Sochi, Russia, with more than 20,000 pipe connectors from the NORMACONNECT DCS product range for drainage systems. The multi-functional arena is located in the Sochi Olympic Park and seats 12,000 spectators. It will host inter alia the ice hockey finals of the Olympic Winter Games 2014.
Together with a construction firm from St Petersburg, NORMA Group has equipped the drainage pipes in the Bolshoy ice palace with Rapid and CV connectors as well as Rekord restraint collars. The pipe connectors from the DCS product range stand out for their space-saving construction. They can also be assembled easily and quickly. The combination of Rapid pipe connector and Rekord restraint collar withstands high pressures under high loads.

The pipe connectors of NORMA Group have also been used in other buildings for the Olympic Games in Sochi: in the Hyatt Hotel, in the buildings of the Russian International Olympic University and in the ‘MoreMall’ shopping center. Overall, a total ten kilometers of drainage pipes has been connected.
