The news is sadly littered with stories about products not being fit for purpose, from cladding, to structures, to breast implants. The end result is a threat or harm to human life, as well as damage of all kinds. Add environmental damage to that, as well as corporate cost, and it quickly focuses the mind on the importance of materials testing.
