The use of titanium aerospace fasteners in airframes has continued to grow ever since their introduction to military aircraft in the 1960s and has now moved over into commercial aircraft. With the large orders on the books for commercial aircraft manufacturers Boeing, Bombardier, Airbus and the new F-35 fighter jet manufactured by Lockheed Martin some are projecting a shortage of titanium aerospace fasteners in the future as the demand will outpace fastener manufacturer’s capacity and capabilities.
