The publication of surveys of steel prices is often delayed and based on general classifications of products (e.g. long products or drawn wire).
The relevant data cannot be applied for wire for cold drawing or cold extrusion used for fasteners.
Different applications and methods of surcharges (e.g. scrap surcharge, surcharge for increasing raw material cost, alloy surcharge, and manyothers) make a comparative survey on steel grades and steel manufacturers very difficult.
The members of the DEUTSCHER SCHRAUBENVERBAND E.V. have therefore decided to monitor the change of raw material costs starting in January 2004. By monitoring relative data, competitive advantages or disadvantages are not considered. Graphs will only be published if at least 5 companies provide data. (…)
