#98 MARCH 2016: COVER STORY

The European Commission’s announcements – at the end of February – to repeal the high anti-dumping duties on certain steel fasteners originating in China, has raised a lot of concerns and questions in the industry on what will happen next.

In our News section we have published an in-depth article that looks at the key facts of the Regulation (EU 2016/278) that repealed the measures; the background of the original anti-dumping measures and why they were introduced; as well as what the future may hold.

Also included in the News section are statements from the European Industrial Fasteners Institute (EIFI), which represents European fastener manufacturers, as well as the European Fastener Distributors Association (EFDA) in response to the European Commission’s decision to repeal the anti-dumping measures.

Our Cover Story focuses on voestalpine Wire Technology GmbH and especially its new wire rod rolling mill in St. Peter-Freienstein, Austria, which – after a three year investment programme – has just commenced production. Further underlining voestalpine Wire Technology’s status as the leading European producer of wire rod and drawn wire.

To add to this there is an in-depth preview of wire® 2016 – the international wire and cable fair, which takes place in Düsseldorf, Germany, from 4th – 8th April 2016. In addition to show information, we have included an exhibitor list and floor plan of the fastener related technology in Hall 15. There is also a preview of the latest innovative technologies and developments from many of the leading manufacturers that will be exhibiting.

Fastener + Fixing Magazine will be on hand throughout wire 2016, interviewing senior industry participants and preparing an in-depth post show report. (…)
