The sewage-discharged case of Advanced Semiconductor Engineering, Inc. recently has negative effects on Taiwan’s fastener industry, causing closes of many local electroplating plants.

It’s reported that most plants for fastener electroplating and acid pickling are located in the southern part of Taiwan and 80 percent of the plants have temporarily worked off, resulting in as high as 30% increase in electroplating costs and shipment delay for 2 to 3 months later, posing a threat to Taiwan’s fastener industry.
