Recently, there has been a lot of talk about “re-shoring”. The idea that manufacturers are bring jobs/manufacturing back to the U.S. after they had been sent overseas to take advantage of real or perceived cost savings. It is a fairly common point of discussion. There is still a question of whether or not fastener manufacturing would be brought back to the U.S. Clearly, there are products that do not seem like they will be manufactured again in the U.S. any time soon, at least not in any large quantities. Hex nuts come to mind. I was recently having a discussion with a customer of mine about importing fasteners directly from overseas and we were talking about whether she had seen any changes in the way she was doing business.
