I attended an industry function last week and sat at a table with Ken Graham, owner of the career search website, FastenerJobs.com. As the site says,“FastenerJobs.com is a user friendly career board developed for fastener people…by fastener people! We provide a safe and secure, centralized meeting place for prospective employers to meet qualified fastener industry candidates”.
I asked Ken to be a guest blogger. I told him to write up a description of his site (www.FastenerJobs.com) and explain a little bit about how it works. This conversation just took place last Thursday. This morning, Ken called me and we discussed the recent news about Heads and Threads. As we talked, I told Ken I wanted to put something up immediately about his website as I think it might be helpful to some of the people caught up in this whole situation. I hope Ken responds to this post and passes along more detail on his site and how it might benefit some of the people who are now looking for jobs.
Ken’s was only one of the calls I received today. The industry is buzzing. Not a good buzz, but it is buzzing. No matter how market forces are meant to work, I find it disturbing that a company as large as Heads and Threads could be shutting its doors. I have no first hand knowledge but I have seen news releases and heard from so many people that I think I am safe to write about it on this site. Because I do not have details, that is about I will say here. But I thought that Heads had business well over $100MM at one point recently and I just cannot imagine where that has gone. There will be plenty of articles and other posts to explain the details, but I will just say that I hate to see ANY well known, established fastener company disappear. And it sound like Heads might just do that. Please correct me if you hear otherwise.
