Additive manufacturing is often referred to as 3D printing and America Makes is a center for additive manufacturing innovation located in Youngstown, Ohio.  Just recently, the organization changed their name from National Additive Manufacturing Innovation Institute (NAMII) to America Makes.  Below is a short description of the the organization from their own website:

“National Additive Manufacturing Innovation Institute (NAMII), headquartered in Youngstown and managed by the National Center for Defense Manufacturing and Machining (NCDMM), serves as a nationally recognized additive manufacturing center of innovation excellence. As a public-private partnership with member organizations from industry, academia, government, and workforce development resources, NAMII is working to transition additive manufacturing technology to the mainstream U.S. manufacturing sector and yield significant advancements throughout industry. NAMII is the pilot institute for up to 15 National Network for Manufacturing Innovation (NNMI) institutes across the country.” (…)
