The 5th of July falling on a Friday is kind of confusing. About half the fastener industry is working today and the other half is off. Might be a good day to get caught up on things if you are someone that is at work today. So, in addition to being kind of confused about the 5th, Im kind of confused about anti-dumping. I read recently where Nucors request for a full investigation into steel fastener imports was rejected in the U.S. Court of International Trade. To my understanding, the previous rulings had found that there was “no reasonable indication of injury” and that with this ruling they have concluded that nothing new has arisen to change that ruling. The next step would be for Nucor to appeal to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit – so I understand.Almost immediately after that news came out I then read that three domestic producers of threaded rod have petitioned the U.S. International Trade Commission regarding antidumping and countervailing duty investigations on certain steel threaded rod from India and Thailand.
