Fastener Tech ’13 is just a little more than a week away.  As far as I can tell, this is the 2nd largest U.S. based fastener show (not including Fastenal’s own private gathering).  Nancy Rich and her gang at MWFA always put on a great show with the support of Mike McNulty and Fastener Technology.  Chicago is a great fastener town and a very logical place for a national fastener event. There are programs running all day long and speakers and a fastener social right after the show.  This is already a great show but I could see this getting even bigger in the future.  This year, the NFDA is holding a meeting in Chicago to coincide with Fastener Tech, and that is some good support being added.  The link to info on this show is http://www.fastenertech.com/fastenertech.asp although you can just google Fastener Technology 2013 and get the info.  I have had friends from the east coast ask me if they thought it was worth the effort to travel to Chicago for the show.  Absolutely YES!  If you do business with fastener distributors in the Chicago area (and there seems to be a hundred+ of them) then it is worth the trip.  Additionally, there is somewhere around 150 exhibitors (I think) and I am absolutely convinced that half the value of a trade show is when exhibitors interact and pick the brains of other industry suppliers.  If you sit in your booth all day and don’t talk to other exhibitors you are missing an enormous opportunity.
