A new standard for high-tensile bolts for bridges was implemented January 1, 2011 by Russia.

In 2009 the standards agency for the Russian Federation for Technical Regulation & Metrology approved national standard GOST P 53664-2009 for high-tensile bolts for bridge building and corresponding nuts and washers.

Simultaneously, the Science & Research Center Mosty developed a normative document regarding detachable connections in steel construction of bridges using bolts.

Both normative documents came into force this month. They are based on new science and research and design-engineering developments, conducted by SRC Mosty and tested on real bridge construction. All are aimed at improving safety in construction operation, reducing labor intensity, reorganizing labor processes and decrease environmental impact.
