The U.S. Fastener Trade – From Europe to Taiwan…Chelsea Craven

 

As we have expounded in previous articles, the majority of U.S. fastener imports originate in Asia, Taiwan and China to be more specific. About 90% of container imports of fasteners are from Asia, while roughly 10% are from Europe. Zepol’s import and export data shows that in recent years, the trade is shifting. Just two years ago, 91.5% of fasteners came from Asia and 8% came from Europe. Today, 89% are coming from Asia and 11% are coming from Europe. What has caused this shift and will it continue?
